Disability Benefits

If an injury or illness causes you to become partially or fully disabled or otherwise unable to work, you may be eligible to receive disability benefits. Disability benefits are provided to all eligible employees at no cost. Omnicell’s disability plans are administered by Unum.

Short term disability

Short term disability (STD) will replace a portion of your income if you are injured or ill more than seven days. Here’s how it works:

  • During the first seven days of illness or injury, you can use your sick/vacation time.
  • Beginning the eighth day, you may be eligible to receive up to 60% of your pre-disability base income earnings for up to 180 days, up to a maximum weekly benefit of $2,500.
  • Your STD benefit will be reduced by other sources of disability income, such as Social Security, workers’ compensation, and state disability income.
  • Any benefits paid under this policy will be subject to income tax.

Long term disability

Long term disability (LTD) is designed to pick up where STD leaves off. Here’s how it works:

  • Benefits begin after you have been totally disabled, or residually disabled, as defined by the policy, for 180 days.
  • Beginning on the 181st day of your disability, you may be eligible to receive up to 60% of your pre-disability base income earnings (base salary, bonus, and commission), up to a maximum monthly benefit of $15,000.
  • Your LTD benefit will be reduced by other sources of disability income, such as Social Security, workers’ compensation, and state disability Income.
  • Any benefits paid under this policy will be subject to income tax.
