Basic Life and AD&D Insurance

Basic life and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance is provided to eligible employees at no cost. These plans are administered by Unum. You must designate a beneficiary.

Basic life insurance

In the event of your death, basic life insurance coverage pays a benefit to your designated beneficiary equal to 1½ times your annual earnings, up to a maximum of $250,000. This benefit will reduce by 35% at age 70 and by 50% at age 75.

Basic AD&D insurance

AD&D insurance coverage provides additional financial security if you die or suffer a severe injury due to an accident. If your death is due to an accident, your beneficiary will receive an additional AD&D insurance benefit equal to your basic life insurance benefit. The full benefit amount will be paid for the loss of your life, hands, feet, and/or both eyes. If you lose a single hand, foot, or eye, you’ll receive a benefit equal to 50% of your full amount of coverage. Your total AD&D benefit will reduce by 35% at age 70 and by 50% at age 75.
